What are some ways that you feel your personal freedom and choices might be impacted by immigration legislation?

 @9JR5XKN from Texas answered…3mos3MO

 @9JR5XCT from Florida answered…3mos3MO

I feel my freedom would be expanded as more people would be allowed into the country.

 @9JR65GQ from Florida answered…3mos3MO

I feel like I am personally not affected, but as a child of immigrants, I do feel lesser than soemtimes.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…4mos4MO

If there was a class in high school focused on immigration stories, what topics would you want it to cover?

 @9JH7YLJRepublican from Idaho answered…4mos4MO

Immigration Rules, Ellis Island, illegal immigration

 @9JMVKY9Socialist from Texas agreed…4mos4MO

I’d like to cover the issues of assimilation and effects of diversity. Assimilation occurs by the 2nd generation and is usually solidified by then. Diversity also benefits a community long term.

 @9JKXXTM from New Jersey answered…4mos4MO

The effects on our countries, both the good and bad. They fill plenty of jobs we need to be done, and help our economy. However with a population intake, it could also cause inflation. It is a delicate line we have to walk. I would probably cover people who come here seeking salvation.

 @9JHBT4QDemocrat from Alabama answered…4mos4MO

What are the problems with the border? Why is it such a difficult issue? What has been done to attempt to solve the problem?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

If a friend spoke negatively about immigrants, how would you respond?

 @9H86V6DPeace and Freedom from Texas answered…6mos6MO

You don't know what people are going through and they might have wanted opportunity. They could have been running form something. You should respect them they ate people and deserve to get the same treatment as everyone.

 @9H87ZKL from North Carolina answered…6mos6MO

I would respond that their negative comments about immigrants are unnecessarily cruel and likely untrue. Immigrants seek the best life for themselves (just like everyone else) and found that immigrating to another country provided a better life, why should they be ridiculed and talked about negatively for that?

 @9H876BSRepublican from North Carolina answered…6mos6MO

I would say that not everyone had a choice, and sometimes its a matter between life and death

 @9H873BD from California answered…6mos6MO

Discuss why and tell them immigrants are human too and if they pay taxes they should eventually be granted citizenship

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO

What personal qualities do you think are important to have when discussing sensitive topics like immigration?

 @9J7F6QM from Illinois answered…4mos4MO

Everyone should be allowed to live where they want. All should go through the same screening process to make sure they aren't a threat though.

 @9J7K3XJDemocrat from Kansas agreed…4mos4MO

With proper screening, there should be no other reason as to why someone is not allowed to live somewhere that they please.

 @9J7DRTC from California answered…4mos4MO

An open mind, understanding the issues and causes for someone to flee their own country.

 @9J8KTBP from Florida agreed…4mos4MO

Legal, lawful immigration of people who want to adopt American principles and values as well as contribute as a responsible citizen are more than welcome to begin the process of becoming a citizen. Entering illegally shows a disregard for our laws and our values.

Reflecting on your family's history, how has migration—whether recent or generations back—shaped your life?

 @9J6PSV2 from Michigan answered…4mos4MO

 @9J6P5BX from Texas answered…4mos4MO

It’s led me to meet a lot of good people and my people wouldn’t be here if not for migration.

Do you think your culture is threatened by people coming from different countries, or enriched by them?

 @9H7WGQVPeace and Freedom from Louisiana answered…6mos6MO

ENRICHED! The same people complaining about immigration WERE immigrants; and they came to North America feeling entitled to this land and the new opportunity due to oppression of religious rights; but won't accept people who are literally running for their lives.

 @9H7X7SXWomen’s Equality from California answered…6mos6MO

I feel That there is no risk to our culture at all and if anything it does enrich us as a whole. The more people from different cultures the more knowledge we have as people and knowledge is power.

 @9H7W9MG from North Carolina answered…6mos6MO

i think it is enriched, the US is already filled with so many different cultures so why would it hurt us more.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…4mos4MO

If you discovered your ancestors were immigrants, would that change your perspective on contemporary immigration?

 @9JJD9DK  from Alabama answered…4mos4MO

My father is an immigrant. He came to the US at 20 as a college student. Legally. Just follow the law and get citizenship the proper way, and I believe you have just as much of a right to be here as anyone else

 @9JJD6LFConstitution from Pennsylvania answered…4mos4MO

My grandparents are immigrants and we should not be taking anyone else into this country unless they are skilled and are considered an asset to this country.

 @9JJD2HR from Delaware answered…4mos4MO

No. Everyone from the U.S. except for the Native Americans are technically immigrants from England. Therefore, with how watered down our bloodlines are now a days, everyone has someone in their lineage that wasn't born in the united states at one point or another.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Do you believe immigrants should adapt to the local culture, or should diversity be embraced equally?

 @9H85SLF from Illinois answered…6mos6MO

I believe that a country (like the US) which is all about diversity and multi-cultural beliefs, should be embraced equally but if a country is known for having set rules and doesn't like diversity then you have to follow that culture. Out of respect for them and respect for yourself.

 @9H84YNY from New York answered…6mos6MO

Immigrants shouldn't be forced to abandon their culture after moving to a new country, their cultured should be embraced.

 @9H85H4T from Nebraska answered…6mos6MO

I believe diversity should be embraced among all cultures within the United States.

 @9H86DPQ  from Iowa answered…6mos6MO

The point of America is to be free so who are we to make others change their religious and culture to fit in with us?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Is unity within diversity a realistic goal for our society, and how can it be achieved in the face of anti-immigration sentiment?

 @9HCSJJM from Nevada answered…6mos6MO

I don't know if it is realistic for complete unity. I think as a country we can work to improve our unity.

 @9HCS9CK from California answered…6mos6MO

if we can ever fully accept everyone for who they are no matter where they stay then maybe we could have no anti immigration laws

 @9HCSH7T from California answered…6mos6MO

It is not a realistic goal because I think no matter what, diversity will cause disagreement and racial discrimination.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

What is the difference between protecting one's culture and excluding others, and where should the line be drawn?

 @9HF2RDR from Texas answered…6mos6MO

The difference between protecting one's culture and outright excluding others is as simple as whether or not you allow immigrants to legally become citizens and reside in your country. If you don't give them equal opportunities, especially after they become citizens, that is not protecting one's culture, that is discrimination.

 @9HF255F from Washington answered…6mos6MO

dont let the illegal immagrants take our jobs, money, housing, etc. just because they are a minority, instead give them an equal opportunity.

 @9HDZTSZ from Missouri answered…6mos6MO

The line should be drawn where the border is. It is not the U.S's problem if people from different countries are trying to come in from their poor, scary country.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Imagine you lost a job opportunity to an immigrant; would this shape your view on immigration policies?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…5mos5MO
