The F-35 fighter is a stealth fighter jet being produced for the U.S. military by The Lockheed Martin corporation. Three variations of the single seat stealth fighter jet are being produced for the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy. By 2037 2,457 F-35’s will be delivered to the military and will fly until they retire from service in 2070. The research, development and construction of the F-35 will be the most expensive military weapons program in the history of the U.S. When the F-35 retires in 2070 analysts estimate that the cost of the program will have exceeded $1.5 trillion. The F-35 is the most advanced stealth fighter apart from the F-22 and must stay in production to maintain a technological edge against our enemies
@ISIDEWITH7yrs7Y
Yes
@9FN9KM88mos8MO
IF we don't have superiority in th military then others would, and we would be forced out as a world leader.
Listen to military experts on this
No, the program is too far into production and service to cancel, but revise procurement procedures to avoid out of control and mismanaged costs with future military weapons programs
No, but dramatically decrease production
@9CD7JJ312mos12MO
Yes but first fund development of a better replacement aircraft and only discontinue when the new planes are ready.
@8F9BXYWConstitution4yrs4Y
The A 10 warthog is here to stay
@974NDLK2yrs2Y
No, but lower production
Yes, but continue to operate and provide upgrades for the existing F35 fleet.
@97NWKHH2yrs2Y
No, the F-35 is the current pinnacle of stealth fighter technology. They are important to the national defense.
@9L4Z23BIndependent 2mos2MO
No, but all government contracts currently active and all future contracts should be reviewed all ensure there is no price gouging or no cost overruns
@8SFF7M83yrs3Y
@9CNWR6W11mos11MO
No, but we should be more discerning about how much we pay defense contractors
@9C9SCF312mos12MO
No, decrease defense spending in general but complete the F-35 program so as to not waste what has already been invested.
No, this weapons program is too far into production and service, but revise procurement procedures for future military weapons programs so that costs do not become so mismanaged and out of control
@98P4P65Republican1yr1Y
No, but be smarter about the amount being spent
@95DBZ89Women’s Equality2yrs2Y
I am uneducated on the subject
@93L8RR82yrs2Y
Don’t know enough to have an opinion
@8WLN6333yrs3Y
They should find a cheaper alternative
@8R2QBMCIndependent3yrs3Y
Yes, it is too expensive
@8LT3BN24yrs4Y
No but the cost should not be as hyper inflated as it is.
@8HBMN764yrs4Y
We should reduce production of the F-35 fighter, but not cancel it, in case of losing global influence.
@9FNPCYQ8mos8MO
yes, assuming the money saved is used on something to better U.S citizen's lives
@9D2V2XG10mos10MO
Yes, but continue to operate the current F35 fleet
@9CW6LJX11mos11MO
Yes, but continue to operate the current F35 fleet.
@8WZBZ333yrs3Y
Yes, we do not need more military weapons
@8Q8HGW7Libertarian3yrs3Y
Decrease amount of production
@8MMG3X84yrs4Y
No but there should be regulations in place to stop the over spending
@99MFTPG1yr1Y
No, increase procurement and restart F-22 production
@98HG28L1yr1Y
Continue production until a suitable replacement is available
No, they are in too deep; however, more oversight should be placed on the project to ensure its completion in a quicker and more cost effective manner
@8RHL36C3yrs3Y
Yes, why do we need it? we're already in a multi-trillion dollar deficit and we aren't in wartime.
Yes, they should put that money towards social and environmental causes instead
@9MTZNC46 days6D
No, since cancelling it now would cost more than finishing, but we should absolutely seek more ways to reduce production costs in the future
@9MN7DQSIndependent 1wk1W
No but find a way to drastically reduce the cost! Upgrades are necessary but there’s got to be a more affordable option!
@9MLGCZH 2wks2W
Given how small the national student debt is in comparison, I have a hard time supporting this program instead of forgiving student debt or incentivizing affordable healthcare. I want us to have the best military, but this is out of hand.
@9MKM7WZ2wks2W
The decision to cancel the production of the F-35 fighter is a complex one that requires careful consideration of various factors, including national security needs, budget constraints, and technological capabilities.
@9MJFBY8 2wks2W
The Government should continue production of the F-35 while cutting much of the currently planned upgrades so those resources can be used for other weapons development programs.
@9MJ6R9B2wks2W
I’d put it to bed for a while until our debt decreases. How many more of those glorified cap pistols could we need?
@9MGTSFR2wks2W
Apply independent review of the cost benefit analysis. Hold the companies accountable for breach of contract.
@9MGL3BT2wks2W
No, but all further production should be postponed until the majority of its design problems are addressed and corrected. The US should work in partnership with other nations with F-35s in their fleets to overcome these issues, with these nations supplying some of the research and development costs as well. Having a fightercraft in our arsenal that is also used by the majority of our allied nations is advantageous, both from a logistics and supply perspective.
