I believe that understanding and empathy is more effective against those who are more open to a healthy dialogue, despite their beliefs. However, those who have shown that they have no desire to change their world views and are far too set in their ways, require more direct opposition. It is a waste of time and energy to engage with such individuals in any other way.

I think just understanding and learning the opinions of all sides would help deal with extremism more than just opposing it.

I think that all kinds of extremism are problematic because these people are too rooted in their ideas beyond even hearing another perspective. But, also I think everyone has a right to believe what they want too as long as it is not causing any harm and breaking laws. So, just arrest them when they do get around to breaking some laws at a rally for their cause.

Understanding and empathy mean seemingly different things to differnt people. I think they are a great start to understanding anyone that differs from yourself, but if you are trying to change hearts and minds it takes patience and time, not judgment and ridicule.

Understanding and empathy can only be used when someone is emotionally able to receive and hear what you have to say and be willing to change their stance. If they are not, understanding and empathy only make one bite their tongue to keep the peace.

either one can work, but for the long run, empathy and understanding is the best option.

 @9H8HZ3FSocialist from Ohio answered…5mos5MO

Understanding and empathy may allow opposing sides to put their walls down, and see each other as human beings. We need to build bridges instead of motes to promote unity and progress.

Understanding and empathy can be effective to be more aware of the world around us.

 @9H6K4JQ from Virginia answered…5mos5MO

Yes, understanding and empathy can be an effective tool, but there should be a line drawn if someone crosses that line, then a different approach should be made.

It is a way that people can get what they want and most people don't like this however we are in a free country where that way of doing stuff isn't illegal by any means. It is also very easy for people to say no right away seeing it's crazy allowing itself to back fire.

 @9H8HFY8 from Georgia answered…5mos5MO

Yes, it can be. You can't fight extremism with anger, you must with logic and a calm mentalioty.

The "Anti-Far-Right" political ideology is a stance that opposes the principles and policies of the far-right political spectrum. It is not a singular, unified ideology but rather a broad range of political beliefs and movements that actively resist the far-right's ideologies. The far-right political spectrum typically includes ideologies such as ultra-nationalism, xenophobia, racism, religious fundamentalism, and extreme conservatism. Therefore, the Anti-Far-Right ideology is characterized by its opposition to these principles, advocating for values such as multiculturalism, social equality, religious freedom, and progressive social policies.

Again, this shows a real bias. There is just as much a far left extremism as far right extremism. It is politically incorrect to call out BLM and communism as far left so the media does not talk about this. Both extremes are counter productive. Everyone thinks they are middle of the road but there is a spectrum and all of us fall on one side of the line but rarely is anyone in the middle.

Understanding and empathy is important, as the left insists on calling anything and everything "far-right"

 @9H93BT9 from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

Understanding and Empathy can be effective because if you hear it from someone it might actual help you.

 @9H998HY from Texas answered…5mos5MO

Extremism, on either side, must be met with logical arguments, as well as, understanding and empathy.

 @9H7MD7K from Illinois answered…5mos5MO

We should promote all forms of extremism unless they endanger specific groups of people.

I do lean more to the right, and I think that the far-left can be dangerous as well.

 @9H6JYBP from New York answered…5mos5MO

Only in select circumstances, in most cases extremism must be met with resounding resistance.
